Most of our databases require a password to identify you as a Roehampton student or staff member. The majority of these use Federated Access (Shibboleth).
Federated Access works the same for both students and Staff. You need your up to date Roehampton University network login details. Resouces that use this method are identified in our list with the symbol
Some resource web sites are unhelpfully laid out and below, we have provided instructions to help you log in to these with the minimum of frustration. In all the cases below, ignore the large, obvious login boxes and look for the links to Institutional or Shibboleth login or Athens which are often quite small. If you have any difficulty in using any of our resources, just ask.
AFI Catalog Link to login is at the bottom left of the screen
Annual Reviews Online: Can be searched but there is no access to full text away from RU campus. There is no need to log in to search.
Archival Sound Recordings: Institution login, in top right corner
ASSIA (Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts): The Shibboleth login is a small link on the left hand side, underneath the log-in boxes.
Bibliography of British & Irish History Off campus access requires a password, available from the Library. To log in, you need to scroll down to the bottom of the first page and click the link "Access without IP address recognition: Individuals who want to access their personal subscriptions on a computer covered by a site license can click here". Then enter the login details.
Bibliography of the History of Art: Institutional login link is at the top right of the screen
Brill Journal Archive Online: Sign in via Athens on the right hand side below the white login boxes
British Periodicals Online: Shibboleth is the link "Remote Users: sign in via your home institution"
Business Insights Interactive Reports : The Athens login link is top right of the page. On the next page use the Athens link below the login boxes
ChildData: The Athens link is on the right hand side of the page
Census Registration Service: Login button on the left hand side
Cochrane Library: The link to the Athens login page is very small, at the top right of the page, below the login boxes. Once you have logged in, the interface looks different but you will be able to search and find the information you need.
CogNet: You don’t need to log in to search but you can’t see the full text away from campus
Emerald Full text: The link to the Institution login is at the top of the page.
Encyclopedia of Children's Literature: Ignore the white login boxes and click the "Log in via your home institution" link
FIAF International Index to Film Periodicals The login link is at the bottom left of the screen
Film Index International Ignore the login boxes at the top left of the screen. Log in via your home institution link is in the middle of the screen
Grove Music: Now Oxford Music Online: Institutional login is beneath the login boxes on the left hand side.
Informaworld: Click sign in on the dark blue bar near the top of the screen. You will then see a login box, ignore this but click the link to shibboleth to the right of it.
ISI Citation Indexes (Web of Science): Click the green connect button in the centre of the screen. The next page has a choice of log in methods. Choose the Shibboleth link then choose UK Federation and Roehampton University from the drop downs. Log in with your University network credential.
John Johnson Collection The Institution login link is at the bottom of the screen
JSTOR : Login in in small writing at the top right hand corner or click the search tab. Scroll down to "Access JSTOR through a participating institution"
Marketline: Click the Library and education users log in on the right hand side. The next screen has a link to Athens
Nature: Login link is top right of the page. Scroll down to Log in via your institution
NexisUK: Click Academic Sign in below the login boxes. You may be able to click Roehampton University and get direct access if you have already logged in via shibboleth. If you are accessing this from a link in the Electronic Journals Finder, you may see a message saying you do not have access. Click the small arrow to continue and you will then see the title you need is available and listed in the Sources box

Springer-Link Click on the log in link in the top left of the page. It is in grey and quite small. Then select United Kingdom from the list of countries and Roehampton University from the list of institutions.
