The Jewish Resource Centre was founded in 1996 as a joint project between The Roehampton Institute School of Education and the local Jewish Community. The aim of the Centre was to support first class Jewish education for parents of Jewish children and for teachers of Judaism in Primary and Secondary schools. The present Collection grew from this project.
The Collection consists of theological, historical and pedagogical texts that will be of use to the Hebrew specialist, the Religious Education teacher, the Jewish parent, the member of the Jewish community and to the general reader interested in Judaism.
The theological texts address Jewish scripture, festivals and Jewish practice. The historical texts range from an examination of the ancient stories from Torah to more recent personal accounts of The Shoah. The pedagogical texts offer support for the effective teaching of Judaism from Early Years to GCSE and A-Level.
The collection also includes a range of Jewish sacred articles and artefacts which may be found in the Synagogue or the Jewish home.
The collection can be searched via the Library catalogue (OPAC).
The JRC organises Events for everybody throughout the year. Find out more about the Jewish Resource Centre.
